# Quote3D > Instant 3D printing quoting engine and REST API for 3D printing service providers. Quote3D is a B2B platform for 3D printing businesses (print shops, service bureaus, print farms). It lets their customers upload a 3D model on the business's own website and get an accurate price in seconds — calculated from the business's own machines, materials and rates. Businesses integrate it through an embeddable quote widget or the REST API (v2). Quote3D does not print parts or take orders itself; orders go through the business's own store and checkout. ## Who it is for - 3D printing service providers that want to stop preparing quotes by hand. - E-commerce stores selling custom 3D printed parts (WooCommerce, Shopify and others). - Developers integrating instant 3D printing prices into an ERP, MES or custom software. ## Quote engine - **Five technologies:** FDM, SLA, SLS, SLM (metal laser powder bed fusion) and MJF (HP Multi Jet Fusion). Each has its own time and material model. - **File formats:** STL, OBJ, 3MF and STEP (.step/.stp), with automatic format detection. STEP is tessellated on the server with OrcaSlicer's settings (linear deflection 0.003 mm, angular deflection 0.5 rad); every body of an assembly is kept and lengths are converted to millimetres. - **Geometry analysis:** mesh repair, volume, surface area, bounding box and automatic orientation. - **FDM:** real slicing — layers, walls, adaptive infill with 18 selectable infill patterns, tree supports, brim and a motion/acceleration model for print time. - **SLA:** support points and support tree, pad, hollowing, elephant-foot compensation and tilt/peel release modelling. - **SLS:** layer-by-layer laser and recoating time (contour and jump moves from real scan vectors), 3D nesting of parts in the powder bed, minimum-volume bounding box pricing. - **SLM and MJF:** time models based on manufacturer-published build-rate identities. - **Printability:** build-volume fit check against the selected machine before quoting. - **Pricing inputs set by the business:** machine hourly rate, material price, energy cost per kWh, fixed fee per order, minimum quote price per technology (a pre-tax floor: a cheaper quote is raised to it, a dearer one is unchanged), material waste factor, tax rate, volume discount tiers, currency, complexity multipliers and post-processing fees per technology (standard, sanding, painting, painted). - **3MF plates:** a multi-object 3MF plate arranged in OrcaSlicer or Bambu Studio is priced as laid out — its arrangement and orientation are kept instead of being re-oriented. - **Batch production and quantity pricing:** batching is switched on or off per technology; when on, fixed run costs (preheating, cooling, recoating) are split between the parts that fit into the same run. SLS packs parts in 3D. - **SLS build sharing:** three billing modes — shared (orders nest with other jobs and pay only for their share), minimum fill (nested, but billed at least a set fraction of a build) and dedicated (each order pays a full build). - **Complexity scoring**, gated per technology. - **Parameter precedence:** request parameters > the business's own printer/material profiles > global defaults. ## Profiles and ready-made library - Printer and material profiles per technology, plus global pricing settings; request parameters override profiles, which override global defaults. - A ready-made library of 65+ printer profiles (FDM, SLA, SLS, SLM, MJF), 90+ materials and 950+ colours. Any global printer or material can be copied into the account with one click and adjusted; a new account's pricing settings start from the platform defaults. - Colours per material, with a stock level recorded for each colour. ## Embeddable quote widget - **Embedding:** JavaScript SDK (`Quote3D.init()`) or iframe. Auto-height, theme, colour, form mode and locale options. - **Basic and Advanced forms:** Advanced asks for every print setting (layer height, infill, walls, pattern, hollowing). Basic asks two plain questions instead, print quality (Draft / Standard / Fine) and strength (Light / Standard / Strong), and turns the answers into the layer height, infill and wall count the business chose; Standard keeps the business's own defaults. The business offers Basic, Advanced or both with a switch, in the widget customizer or with the SDK's `mode` option. - **Store integrations and the cart:** - WooCommerce, PrestaShop 8, OpenCart (3.0, 4.0.2.2+ and 4.1), Magento Open Source / Adobe Commerce 2.4 and Wix (Velo package for Wix Stores): installable packages. The store's server re-reads each quote from the Quote3D API and adds it to the cart at that price, so shoppers cannot change it; the cart line shows the model thumbnail (Wix keeps the product image, as it only accepts Media Manager images). - Store back office (WooCommerce, PrestaShop, OpenCart and Magento): with a second, server-only token the plugin adds a Quote3D menu to the shop admin with an overview (plan, remaining quotes, API requests and storage, quotes, carts, orders and revenue for any period), a quote list, a production queue with print settings, model downloads and "mark printed", a catalogue for printers, materials, colours, prices and colour stock, and reports with CSV export. Paid orders take colours out of stock, cancelled ones put unprinted parts back, and model files can be deleted 7 days after delivery. Carts and orders are stored in the shop's own database. A setup wizard picks the language (all nine) and checks both tokens. The WooCommerce plugin updates from the WordPress.org directory. - Wix: with a server token the Velo backend checks colour stock before a quote enters the cart, takes it when the order is paid and returns it when the order is cancelled or refunded; quotes and stock are managed in the Quote3D dashboard. - Shopify: Custom Liquid code for Online Store 2.0 product templates. Without Shopify Plus a line price cannot be set, so the quote is added as a quantity of a unit-priced product and the order carries the quote ID for checking. An optional theme edit shows the model thumbnail on the cart line. - Webflow, Framer and Squarespace: the widget can be embedded, but these platforms offer no cart the widget can add a custom-priced quote to. - **Customisation:** light, dark or automatic (device) theme; six presets; primary and button text colour; four font families; corner radius; shadow; border; three trust badges; five result sections that can be shown or hidden; editable texts. - **Form control:** ten form fields can be turned on or off, renamed, made bold and given a help tooltip; allowed values can be limited for layer height, infill density, infill pattern and wall count. - **Live preview:** desktop and mobile preview in the dashboard, including the step-by-step calculation animation. - **Results:** interactive 3D model preview, geometry, technical details, unit price and complexity badge. - **Cart hand-off:** `QUOTE3D_ADD_TO_CART`, `QUOTE3D_RESULT` and `QUOTE3D_RESIZE` postMessage events, plus the `widget.added_to_cart` webhook. - **Languages:** the widget, the site and the dashboard are available in nine languages: English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Chinese and Japanese. ## Security - **Bot protection:** proof-of-work challenge instead of CAPTCHA, on the widget and the site's forms. - **Widget sessions:** limited lifetime, per-IP session limits and hourly caps on uploads, quotes, thumbnails and cart events. - **Daily widget quote limit:** set by the business; an email is sent when the limit is reached. - **Scoped widget tokens:** widget tokens only reach the quoting endpoints and can be bound to allowed origins (domains). - **Rate limiting:** global, anonymous-IP and per-plan burst limits. - **Signed webhooks:** HMAC-SHA256 signature in the `X-Webhook-Signature` header. - **Audit log** of account activity. - **Sign-in:** email and password, Google, Facebook and magic link. ## Data protection - Uploaded files are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, each with its own key. - Files are stored outside the public web root and served only through authenticated requests. - Account data export (JSON) and account deletion. - Automatic retention cleanup of old logs and orphan files. - Published legal documents: terms, privacy policy, cookie policy, data processing agreement, subprocessor list, KVKK notice and application form, refund and acceptable use policies. ## REST API (v2) Base URL: `https://api.quote3d.com/v2`.
